Coherent Inc. has expanded its OBIS family of plug-and-play smart laser modules with a new fiber-pigtailed (FP) option at several wavelengths—405 nm, 488 nm, and 640 nm. The lasers are offered with 1 m of single-mode, polarization preserving fiber, terminating in a standard FC/APC connector, which simplifies their integration into OEM instruments. The lasers also offer low noise and can be directly modulated.

OBIS FP lasers feature low noise and high output stability due to two factors—an output beam and its telecom-type architecture. The output beam features low beam drift to maintain efficient coupling and the telecom-type architecture yields drift-free optomechanical coupling.
