Spectroscopy tools enable R&D of energy-efficient processes and alternative fuels.
The Harrick Praying Mantis, from Harrick Scientific Instruments, is a diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) accessory that works throughout the ultraviolet (UV), visible (Vis), and infrared (IR) spectral regions and is compatible with UV-Vis and IR spectrometers. Reaction chambers enable studies at temperatures ranging from -150 C to 900 C, at pressures to 8 MPa, vacuum to 133 µPa, with selectable flows of reactant gases interacting with the sample bed. An illumination/excitation window enables photochemistry studies, which can help in the development of alternative fuels. One of the chambers is adaptable for use with Raman microscopes/spectrometers.
The accessory and associated chambers are effective tools for studying gas-solid interactions, heterogeneous catalysis, photochemical reactions, and oxidation mechanisms, for energy-related research.
