The SMS 100 is an automated mercury analyzer that can be used to analyze solids, whereas conventional mercury testing systems analyze liquid samples which can require lengthy sample preparation. The SMS 100 enables users to test for mercury more quickly and efficiently, resulting in higher productivity, while still capable of delivering detection limits as low as one part-per-trillion.
The SMS 100’s processes and sensitivity also help users meet requirements set forth by governmental agencies such as the EPA and FDA, and their European counterparts as well as regulated testing methods, including the combustion technique described in EPA Method 7473.
The SMS 100 complements PerkinElmer’s EcoAnalytix portfolio of solutions that was developed to meet the changing needs of the environmental market. The SMS 100 employs thermal decomposition, gold amalgamation and cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry. Standardization can be accomplished using either liquid or solid standards. Additional features include a high capacity autosampler.
