R&D Magazine and www.RDmag.com inform and educate research scientists, engineers, and technical staff members at laboratories around the world with timely, informative news—and useful technical articles that broaden our readers’ knowledge of the research and development industry and improve the quality of their work. The readers are managers—they run projects, laboratories, research divisions, or entire companies. Often multidisciplinary in nature, their work focuses on physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, and engineering as well as informatics, environment issues, nanotechnology, and other emerging technologies.
Contributed Feature Articles
Contributed articles are always welcome and should be between 500-700 words (for the web), 1,300-1,500 (for print), emphasize technical applications and written from the user’s point of view. Examples include how-to articles on techniques, procedures related to specific instruments, processes, or technologies, and reports explaining how significant new products are being used in the laboratory.
Articles should be engaging and objective; they cannot promote a company or its products/services, but rather focus on how it's a contribution to science— how the product has helped researchers and allowed them to perform activities that were previously not possible.
Contributions from technical specialists in the vendor community are welcome, but must adhere to guidelines for non-commercial writing. Content must be unbiased—endorsement of a product cannot be included. Don't use footnotes. If the material is important, put it in the article.
R&D Magazine accepts articles from research scientists, university and government lab researchers, and technical experts at vendors or industry suppliers.
Prospective authors should contact the editor prior to writing the article. Send an email outlining:
• A suggested title or topic headline for your article

• A brief biography of the author (and any co-authors), describing his/her training and expertise in the subject area (include name, title, affiliation and location)
• The graphics, images, or illustrations available to support the article (all high-resolution, 300 dpi for print and 72 dpi for the web)
All submitted articles must be original and exclusive to www.RDmag.com.
