The R&D 100 Awards Committee and R&D Magazine today announced the 2016 R&D 100 Award Finalists for the 54th annual R&D 100 Awards, which honors the 100 most innovative technologies and services of the past year. This year’s R&D 100 Award Winners will be presented with their honors at the annual black-tie awards dinner on November 3, 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland (Washington, D.C.).

The R&D 100 Awards Finalists were selected by an independent panel of more than 50 judges and represent many of industry’s leading R&D companies and national laboratories, as well as many newcomers to the R&D 100 Awards.

“We are pleased to announce the R&D 100 Finalists who join a very exclusive community. By becoming an R&D 100 Award Finalist, these companies are being recognized for their excellent contributions to advancing science and technology,” said Bea Riemschneider, Editorial Director, ABM Science Group, R&D Magazine. “They should be very proud, indeed, of their notable R&D achievements and the teams that are responsible for these new products.”

The R&D 100 Awards honorees will be recognized for exemplary accomplishments from across five categories: Analytical/Test, IT/Electrical, Mechanical Devices/Materials, Process/Prototyping, and Software/Services. For the second year, the R&D 100 Awards Committee will also honor excellence in four new Special Recognition categories – Market Disruptor Services, Market Disruptor Products, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Green Tech.

"This was a very strong year for research and development across various markets, led by many outstanding technologies that broadened the scope of innovation,” said R&D Magazine Editor Anna Spiewak. “We are honored to recognize these products and the project teams behind the design, development, testing, and production of these remarkable innovations and their impact in the field. We look forward to celebrating all of these achievements in Washington, D.C., in November.”
