Decision Sciences International Corp. (DSIC) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) announced they have been recognized by R&D Magazine as a 2013 R&D 100 award winner for their Multi-Mode Passive Detection System Technology.
Called the “Oscars of Innovation,” the R&D 100 award recognizes the best and most unique high-technology products of the year. The top 100 represent the most technologically significant products of the year from the commercial industry, academia and government-sponsored research. DSIC and LANL were selected for their work in the development and commercialization of Muon Tomography.
Muon Tomography uses naturally occurring cosmic ray muons to safely and securely scan all types of vehicles and cargo containers to detect shielded and unshielded nuclear and radiological threats, as well as, explosives and other contraband. The product is based on research originally conducted at LANL and incorporates a substantial portfolio of enabling intellectual property.
