As strange as it seems to say or type, 2010 is upon us. Newsstands are displaying cover stories themed “the decade that was” or similar topics. But for those involved in R&D, the better direction to look is to the decades ahead.
In a recent blog, Tyler Newton, research director at Catalyst Investors, outlined “Ten Trends for the Tens.” With an estimated 3 billion people worldwide connected by 2011, the Internet was a core theme.
What new technologies will come to the forefront (cloud computing, very light jets, doctors making house calls)? What will disappear (conventional software applications, traffic jams, and the education system)?
