LoggerNet 4Campbell Scientific has unveiled the newest version of their datalogger support software, LoggerNet 4. LoggerNet is computer software for Campbell Scientific dataloggers that supports programming, communication, and data retrieval between Campbell Scientific dataloggers and a PC. LoggerNet can support connection to a single datalogger, and is suited for applications that require telecommunications or scheduled data retrieval in large datalogger networks.

LoggerNet consists of a server application and several client applications integrated into a single product. LoggerNet runs on a PC, using serial ports, telephony drivers, and Ethernet hardware to communicate with dataloggers via phone modems, RF devices, and other peripherals. The LoggerNet server stores the data in a cache and writes data to a variety of formats, including ASCII, binary, and XML.

New for LoggerNet 4 are: a new design, with more user-configurable options; View Pro, a display tool that gives more ways to look at data; Network Planner, a tool that allows development, modeling, and verification of PakBus networks; and upgraded RTMC, featuring functions added for building expressions, a new layout toolbar, and more maneuverability around the displays. LoggerNet 4 also supports FTP and SFTP.

Energy Harvesting Subsystems for Wireless Sensors
Energy Harvesting Subsystems for Wireless Sensors

Nextreme Thermal Solutions has developed two new energy harvesting subsystems for the plumbing and HVAC industries. The subsystems are the latest additions to Nextreme's Thermobility energy harvesting platform that uses thin-film thermoelectric technology to convert available thermal energy into electric power for a variety of autonomous self-powered applications.

Mini robots invade U.S. nanospace

Imina Technologies' miBots are gambling die-sized nanomanipulators which, unlike conventional systems, are virtually untethered and move independently. These miniature robots can travel around a microscope stage at 2 mm/sec and stop instantly, then manipulate and probe samples from biological cells to semiconductors.

Diffusion Tubes

Kin-Tek Laboratories Inc.'s Trace Source configurable diffusion tubes extend the range of compounds that can be used to include subliming solids and viscous liquids. These tubes have a removable reservoir that allows filling with the capillary removed, so the component compound can be any consistency.
