Sapphire Optics Protect Cameras and Telescopes

Custom fabricated sapphire front-surface optics for protecting cameras, telescopes, sensors, and detectors used in space and other harsh environ-ments are available from Meller Optics, Inc. Highly resistant to chemicals, abrasion, and temperatures to 1,000°C, they can be manufactured in sizes from 3/8” to 4” dia. with ±0.001” tolerances, and surface finishes from 60-40 to 40-20 scratch dig, depending upon size and configuration. Available in plano-convex, -concave, meniscus, and dome configurations, Meller Sapphire Front-Surface Optics can incorporate focal lengths from 3/4" to 1000 mm and greater, depending upon diameter, varying thicknesses, precisely drilled holes, special edge treatments and A/R coatings.
