Generate electricity at home

The 2008 CEATAC Japan international electronics trade show just concluded and while the event featured plenty of advanced television screens (including Sony’s new bendable organic light-emitting diode screen that’s just 0.33-mm thick!) and cell phones, it also had its share of technologically interesting devices, including Panasonic’s developing fuel cell. The company doing trials on the example picture and will soon be selling it as a household fuel cell module. It takes natural gas, extracts the hydrogen, and combines it with oxygen to make electricity. It's more efficient and much cleaner than burning the gas for power and according to Panasonic its only byproduct is water.
