The latest ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) multi-mode spectrophotometer from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is the UV-1800, which retains the high 1-nm level wavelength resolution of its predecessor while adding functionality as a standalone instrument or a PC-controlled device. UVProbe data processing software is supplied as standard, and the LO-RAY-LIGHT diffraction grating restricts stray light to half that of the UV-1700. A brighter optical system reduces the noise level to 25% of the previous model.
