3DLM Launches WireFinder

3D Laser Mapping has launched a new high accuracy, high-speed laser scanning system specifically designed for the rapid mapping of telecoms networks in 3-D. The system uses a Riegl 3-D laser scanner controlled by software which easily extracts the 3-D position of network assets such as poles and wires. The software can calculate the height of the wire above the road and store all the data in a GIS database.

The WireFinder system is mounted on a vehicle and used while stationary, making it safer than existing systems where survey staff have to stand in the road. It uses laser beams to record the positions of features and surfaces with unrivaled speed, precision and repeatability. GPS is integrated to geo-reference the data in order to provide 3-D GIS data.

The unit has a 360 ° field of view and is fully portable.
