Caterpillar Inc. said Thursday that its vice president of European and South American operations is retiring.
The company said Chris Schena, 62, will retire after more than 39 years with the company. Schena has been a vice president since 2002 and joined the company in Belgium.
Schena's retirement is effective July 1.
Schena will be replaced by Mark Sweeney, 51, who is currently operations director for Caterpillar's Electric Power division. Sweeney will assume his new role on Jan.1 and will focus on transitioning into Schena's position for the first half of the year.
Shares of Caterpillar fell 26 cents, or less than 1 percent, to close at $81.44.
