An tentative deal has been reached between insolvent newspaper giant AbitibiBowater Inc. and the Quebec Federation of Labour.

Details of the agreement, which were hammered out over nine days of negotiations, have yet to be released but include wage concessions.

It will affect some 1,000 workers at four pulp and paper mills across Quebec.

The deal's ratification depends on the AbitibiBowater exiting bankruptcy protection and workers will vote on the pact in the coming days.

The agreement comes on the heels of historic wage concessions tentatively agreed upon between the company and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada earlier this month.

AbitibiBowater has been operating under court protection from bankruptcy in the U.S. and Canada since April, 2009.
