NAME: William J. Lynch, Jr.

AGE: 39.

EDUCATION: Holds a degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and received his master's in business administration from the Columbia School of Business.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER: Joined Barnes & Noble in February 2009 as president of its online business, Barnes & Noble.com. There, he expanded the company's digital offerings and helped launch the Barnes & Noble e-book reader, The Nook.

In 2008 he was at home shopping network HSN Inc., as executive vice president of marketing and general manager of HSN.com.

From 2004 through 2008 he was CEO and co-founder of Gifts.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of IAC.

From 2000 to 2004, Lynch was vice president and general manager of e-commerce for Palm Inc., with duties including overseeing Palm's Web properties such as an online store.
