Connecticut Light & Power Co. officials say electricity has been restored to all but 9,500 of the 147,000 CL&P customers who were left in the dark after last weekend's storm.
The storm's high winds and heavy rain brought down scores of trees and utility wires in southwestern Connecticut on Saturday, forcing road closures, school cancellations and leaving people with no power for days.
CL&P says half the 9,500 outages that remain Thursday are in Greenwich. The company expects to get the outage figure below 2,000 by Thursday night.
The United Illuminating Co., which serves the Bridgeport and New Haven areas, is reporting only about 20 outages.
Local officials and utility customers have complained about slow response by the companies. State regulators are investigating.
