Former Microsoft Corp. vice president Doug Burgum says he's been urged to apply to be president of North Dakota State University.
Burgum, who is an NDSU alumnus, says he's not interested in the job but he's also not ruling it out.
Burgum donated a downtown building to the university and his family has supported NDSU. He says he does not know if he would be eligible for the president's job because he does not have a doctorate. He has a master's degree from Stanford University School of Business.
NDSU President Joseph Chapman is leaving at the end of the month. Interim President Richard Hanson will take the job until a permanent successor is named.
A search committee to be appointed Nov. 19 will determine the qualifications for president candidates.
