The University of Minnesota Regents meet later this week to act on the university's 2010 state capitol budget request.

The request asks the Legislature to approve $194.7 million in state bonds to be matched by $47.3 million in university bonds.

The university says the money would fund $100 million in maintenance to existing facilities, a new physics and nanotechnology building on the Twin Cities campus, improvements to the Itasca Biological Station in Itasca State Park and other projects.

The regents are scheduled to have workshop meetings on Thursday and a take up the capitol request during its regular meeting Friday morning.
