A contract worker killed at International Paper Company's Mansfield Mill has been identified as a 35-year-old Castor man.
DeSoto Parish authorities say Toby Lynn Gardner was killed when he fell into a tank of hot water. Sheriff's Sgt. Brett Cooper says co-workers attempted to rescue the victim by throwing a rope into the tank but Gardner was unable to hang on.
An International Paper spokeswoman says the company will begin an investigation as soon as possible.
Gardner was employed with Zachry Construction Corp., which provides maintenance at the paper mill.
