About 3,800 Michigan utility customers are without power after a heavy thunderstorm swept through the western and southwestern portions of the state.

CMS Energy Corp. spokesman Kevin Keane said Monday morning that residential and business customers began losing power about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. He said 90 reports were scattered throughout Kent, Ottawa, Clinton, Kalamazoo, Van Buren and Muskegon counties.

Keane said customers should have service restored by late to mid-afternoon Monday, barring any further damage caused by expected high winds.

A high wind warning is in effect for the state's southwestern shoreline. A wind advisory is in effect for the Lower Peninsula.
