SKF, the leading knowledge engineering company, has launched its latest generation of SKF ConCentra roller bearing units, which can be mounted 20 minutes faster than conventional split housings, saving costs both initially in mounting and later in maintenance. Additionally, the units enable more accurate mounting, resulting in high bearing performance and longer bearing life. Subsequently, this contributes to improved performance in manufacturing machinery and ancillary equipment.

The latest units use SKF's unique locking technology to facilitate mounting and dismounting. Once the unit is on the shaft, it is locked in position in a couple of minutes by tightening three screws to a pre-determined torque, using the 'smart' Allen key provided. This method ensures the bearing is locked 100% concentrically around the shaft, improving bearing and machine performance, and making dismounting quick and easy.

The SKF ConCentra units are pre-lubricated, which reduces premature bearing failure due to over-greasing or the ingress of contaminated grease into the bearing during maintenance. There are four variations available, which have a specially selected grease and seal for the 'typical' application condition: general, for normal applications concerning speed and cleanliness; high speed, for high rotational speeds; rugged, for extremely dirty operating conditions; and endurer, which is completely lubrication-free under certain conditions.

The unique design of the latest units offers a range of additional benefits in industrial applications. For example, shaft damage is eliminated, as 100% concentricity means that mounting the unit does not damage the shaft. Misalignment and shaft expansion can be accommodated, as all sizes have self-aligning SKF Explorer spherical roller bearings. The units also contribute to energy, cost and environmental savings, and are manufactured to ISO standards, making them easily interchangeable with split bearings.

The range of units cover shaft dimensions from 35 - 100 mm and can be used in many industries and applications, such as food & beverage processing equipment; pulp and paper production; mining and other heavy industry; agriculture and forestry machinery; fans and blowers; mixers, crushers, screens; and handling equipment.
