BPL Global, Ltd. (BPLG) announced they have entered collaboration with Advanced Innovations, Inc. (AI).
BPLG was recently awarded a major contract to deliver its Power SG integrated distributed energy resource management solution, including load management, for a major Mid-Atlantic investor owned utility. The contract involves the installation of direct load control equipment that will deliver 15MW of dispatchable load to the PJM load management program. BPLG chose AI to manufacture and assemble the load controllers that facilitate the load reduction.
“Advanced Innovations provides us with the capability to rapidly scale to meet the significant market for our load management solution,” said, Dermot O’Leary, EVP North America of BPLG. “They reliably deliver high-quality equipment produced to our exacting specifications.”
“Our innovative outsourced managed services model means we can cost-effectively meet BPLG’s hardware product and scalability requirements,” said AI’s CEO, Robert O’Donnell. “More importantly, by partnering with AI, BPLG can focus on providing solutions that increase energy efficiency and reliability for their customers.”
Power SG integrated Demand Dispatch is a load management solution from BPLG consisting of a combination of software, hardware, and services that enable the utility to directly manage non-critical load for operational and market monetization needs. Direct load management provides electric utilities with demand dispatch capability offering several unique benefits not available in traditional third party aggregator demand management solutions. Utilities gain integrated operational control of individual customer loads, without relying on third parties to respond to market signals.
BPLG’s solution provides verifiable and measurable load shed information in real-time and can qualify load reduction as an ancillary services reserve asset. Load is managed as a grid resource with control of specific loads that can be managed individually or collaboratively in response to dynamic grid conditions and operational objectives. In addition, our embedded utility grade meter chip measures power quality at the load under management including voltage, current, active power, reactive power, power factor and frequency. This feature enables the BPLG solution to deliver valuable edge information to the utility without the need for a smart meter at every premises. BPLG’s integrated approach to smart grid solutions enables collaborative management of renewables, distributed generation, energy storage, and load resources in a single controlled system.
