Real estate giant Jones Lang LaSalle says sustainable development is "moving into a new phase, characterized by greater alignment between and within the public and private sectors." Chairman of energy and sustainability services Dan Probst predicts major changes in the areas of transparency (building performance reporting); global consistency of sustainability standards (translating into a common vocabulary for developers if not actual standards integration); public/private collaboration (exemplified by the Better Buildings Challenge); and a renewed focus on solar energy. Jones Lang LaSalle predicts the development of untapped synergy between government and business entities in particular.
