The Univ. of California-Riverside has received a Higher Education Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Award, in a competition open to the state’s public universities and colleges. The award recognized the new School of Medicine Research Building, targeting LEED Gold and designed by SRG Partnership Inc. Among its unusual features are cloud-cover sensors that activate motorized window shades during peak sun hours, and “night flushing” of air through the building to cool the concrete structure overnight. http://newsroom.ucr.edu/2636
