The Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES) is moving forward with its testing of a sustainability rating system for green spaces in the built environment. The standards are now in a pilot phase that encompasses more than 150 projects in the U.S., Canada, Spain and Iceland. Partner organizations in SITES include the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the U.S. Botanic Garden. The pilot phase will extend through June 2012, after which feedback will be used to fine-tune the SITES system. A final version is projected for release in 2013. For more:
