A new report by Environment and Human Health Inc., a nonprofit organization including doctors, public health professionals and policy experts and not funded by corporations or businesses, indicates that sustainable buildings might not protect human health. Tighter buildings might lead to concentrations of chemicals released from building materials, cleaning supplies, fuel combustion, and other substances and processes. Authors of “LEED Certification: Where Energy Efficiency Collides with Human Health” urge the U.S. Green Building Council to amend LEED with an eye to IAQ concerns. For more:
