The City by the Bay now offers the nation’s biggest PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) program, making $150 million in bonding capacity available for businesses and homeowners who want to make retrofit improvements in the areas of building efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy. Low-cost loans will be repaid through property taxes attached to the property (not the individual property owner). Nearby Berkeley already has a smaller program, and Los Angeles and San Diego are reportedly getting ready to roll out their versions later this year. For more:
