Budget: $143 million.

Size: 288,000 ft2.

Project team: Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp, Chovan, Louisville (architect of record); SmithGroup, Detroit (design architect, engineer, lab consultant); Vivian Llambi and Associates, Louisville (site and landscape consultant); Messer Construction, Cincinnati (general contractor).

Completion date: 4Q2009.

Description: Eight-story facility was just certified LEED Gold and includes natural lighting, a reflective roof, sun shading, light, shelves, condensate recycling and other sustainable features. The program includes five floors of open biomedical research labs, including four BSL-3 labs that support the entire research community for the university’s Health Sciences Center. Also included are bioinformatics, a proeteomics core lab, research offices, and meeting facilities.
