Description: Fit-out of shell space in research park near Cambridge consolidates activities from four separate buildings, creating new European headquarters for firm that specializes in integrated systems for genetic research. Labs support research, development and testing and also include presentation and demonstration suites. The program includes open-plan offices, enclosed and open meeting spaces, and centralized services. A two-wing layout is joined by a double-height reception area including break-out space, a café, additional meeting spaces and a product gallery. Optimized access to natural daylight and borrowed light is a theme of the design.
