Size: 28,000 ft2.

Project team: Lord, Aeck & Sargent, Atlanta (architect of record); The Christman Co., Alexandria, Va. (general contractor, lead on design/build team); Newcomb & Boyd, Atlanta (MEP/FP engineer); KSi/Structural Engineers, Atlanta (structural engineer); URS Corp., Atlanta (civil engineer).

Completion date: Summer 2011.

Description: Design/build project located on the Pentagon Reservation will be home to members of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, a DoD agency charged with protecting departmental facilities in the National Capital Region. The two-story building will include lab space (including BSL-3), training and administrative spaces. LEED Silver will be targeted, with extensive use of recycled-content and regionally sourced materials; sunshades to control solar heat gain and glare; high-efficiency air handling and heat recovery; and low-flow fixtures.
