Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building IVArizona State University has rapidly built multiple new science facilities in the past decade in a sweeping initiative to emphasize research in the state’s economy. The newest initiative, going forward after a temporary hold, is the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building IV (ISTB IV) on the Tempe campus, where the Biodesign Institute and ISTB II were prior award winners in the R&D Magazine Laboratory of the Year competition. ISTB IV, a facility of ~300,000 ft2 will be the home of the School of Earth and Space Exploration. Other building occupants will include the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program includes more than 150 labs, 60 faculty offices and a 250-seat auditorium. The building is scheduled for completion by fall 2012. HDR Architecture and Steven Erlich Architects are cooperating on the design.
